Google chrome takes forever to download files

Google Chrome taking forever to update/re-install? On my Lenovo laptop, while i was using Chrome, it wanted me to update to the latest version and that was about 10am. I don't think it is supposed to take hours to update, so I decided to uninstall Chrome and re-install it, but it is still taking a long time.
